My 5 minute lightning presentation on the Cotton Wool Society
Here we are in the silly season, going a thousand miles an hour to try and get everything done before Christmas. So we can eat plenty of good food, get something nice from Santa (if you have been really good) and a have a few drinks to wash it all down.

Before we know it 2010 is upon us, we have had a short break, watched the cricket, the Sydney to Hobart and are glued to the Australian Open and Easter is sneaking up on us.

The next thing we know we are asking "where on earth did the year go?" Another year older and not a great deal really to show for it.

Take a few moments to ask yourself this question...

"At the end of 2010 what areas of my life would I like to create a significant improvement?"

Now ask yourself this...

"Will it happen?"

Unfortunately, the statistics show that most New Year's resolutions never become reality. Sad but true.

So if you would like to RAISE THE BAR, here are the four critical things you must do.

1. Focus: Be really clear about what you want to change or improve, get absolute clarity about how it will look and feel, and then put in place a system of reminders (post it notes, diary notes, pictures etc) to ensure the goal is at the front of your mind.

2. Action: Create a plan of consistent and regular actions that will take you closer and closer to your goal, review these regularly and refine them as you go.

3. Support: Find the correct support mechanisms (information, knowledge, partners, mentors, books, coaches) that will assist you on the journey.

4. Obstacles: Write down the things that typically hold you back, such as habits, dream stealers, time constraints, commitments that have blocked you from raising the bar in the past or could stop you achieving your best in the future.

Have a great Christmas and may 2010 bring you lots of success and plenty to smile about!
